Penn State School of Hospitality Management (SHM) Special Events 2026
At the School of Hospitality Management the Advanced Meeting and Event Management class students combine an educational opportunity with philanthropy. Through this course, they are tasked with working in small groups and dedicating their entire semester to planning and managing fundraising events to benefit Centre County United Way. From concept to plan to execution these students are learning applicable event planning practices, discovering the unique needs in our community, and contributing to the Penn State Campaign -- all in one semester! Country Night

Country Night is a high-energy country line dancing fundraiser benefiting Centre County United Way. Hosted at the Marriott Foundation Building from 6:30 to 8:30 PM, this fun-filled evening will bring together Penn State students, young professionals, and community members for live music, line dancing, BBQ favorites, and interactive activities like cowboy hat decorating and bracelet making.
With tickets starting at just $8 for students, guests can enjoy a lively, welcoming atmosphere while supporting local programs that strengthen the Centre County community. Grab your boots, bring your friends, and help us dance our way toward raising $700–$1,000 for a great cause!

Shop with purpose at the Thrift Shop 🛍️ — every purchase helps Centre County United Way support education, financial stability, and health for our neighbors.
As students planning this event and marketing to other students, the vibe will be fun and casual in an effort to draw students in.
Activities include shopping the racks of peoples donated thrifted clothing. It allows people to search through handed down clothing, instead of buying new products, promoting sustainability. There will be music playing in the background, to give people a fun and enjoyable shopping experience.

Night of Impact

Join us for a Night of Impact, an evening dedicated to wellness, community, and giving back! Hosted in support of Centre County United Way, this special event also supports the Food Bank’s Period Poverty Initiative, helping provide essential feminine hygiene products to those in need.
Spend the night unwinding and connecting through relaxing yoga sessions, creative craft stations (simmer pots, permanent jewelry, candle making, tea blending, and flower bouquet making), and browsing unique offerings from local vendors. Enjoy small bites and drinks while taking time for yourself, all while making a difference for others.
Bring donations of feminine hygiene products (tampons, pads, and more) to receive raffle tickets for exciting prizes, or purchase raffle tickets separately. Every donation helps restore dignity, comfort, and access to basic necessities in our community.
